Q: Hi I messages earlier about upgrading the light that comes with your coco grow kit. I think I will be ordering it later today. Could you just a little info on the pros and cons of the led vs hps lights please. Also which led would be best the 300w or 600w. Thanks for your help again

A: No problem we are here to help. HPS lights are cheaper to buy initially but the running costs (electricity) are quite high - it would be roughly £10-15 per week whereas LED's are around £4-8 per week (estimated). Not only that but HPS lights produce an awful lot of heat which can cause damage to your plants, you can upgrade to the cooltube kit and this would solve this problem, finally HPS lights offer dual spectrum lighting but don't offer a full spectrum of lights which means you plants don't absorb as much of the energy. LED lights offer a full spectrum of light and can be used from start to finish, have no heat problems, are cheap to run but more expensive to buy initially and have a much higher life cycle versus HPS - you should change you HPS bulb every 1 year whereas our LEDs should last 5-6 years (depending on use). I'd recommend a HPS with a cool tube kit as it's the tried and tested way to do things with a lower upfront cost but the 600w LED would probably offer the same or better results and work out cheaper in the long run. The 300w LED would also be suitable but only for 4 plants and may not offer as good results as the 600w LED or HPS cool tube.

A: Hi James, These are very quiet as the Led lights do not generate much heat so only a small extraction fan is required.
