Help your plants with simple humidity controls

The simple things make a big difference!

Humidity is something a lot of people don’t pay attention to. Clever management of the humidity in your grow room can help your plants throughout their life cycle. Stupid management and you can hinder them.

Humidity plays such a huge part in the overall health and yield of your plant it wise to use it to your advantage.

Humidity an introduction:

Many growers have the mistaken belief that too much humidity is a bad thing. Whilst it’s true that high humidity can cause fungal and bacterial problems during the fruiting stages of your plants it can be a boon to them during the all important vegetative stage. Careful management of the relative humidity can result in better, bigger & quicker growth.

What’s the ideal humidity for my grow room?

Humidity and temperature are linked. The ideal humidity for your grow room depends on the ideal temperature your plants require to grow & which stage of growth they are on. Here is a quick sample of the ideal relative humidity for your grow tent.

Although the optimum humidity range can apply to most plants some will require careful tweaking as certain plants can react differently. For example the Calochortus plant require a dry warm environment to thrive.

Your plants will also react differently to humidity during different stages of growth, we have outlined the optimum humidity conditions for each stage below.

How can I raise the humidity in my grow room?

There are many easy, cheap and fast ways to increase the humidity in your grow tent.

  • Put some water in a spray bottle and mist your plants each morning
  • Put a plate or large bowl of water under your light it will evaporate throughout the day
  • Buy a cheap humidifier from your local supermarket
  • Decrease ventilation, lower the power on your extractor fan

Will it really make a difference?

Management of humidity levels can make a vast improvement on your overall health and yield of the plants.

If you’re humidity levels are too high your plants can suffer from mould, rot and various other pathogens.

If your humidity levels are to low your plants could suffer white spots, lower nutrient uptake and stunted growth.
